Isothermal Forging
Isothermal forging is conducted on superalloys in a vacuum or highly controlled atmosphere to prevent oxidation. Operators heat the dies to the same temperature as the forged part. Special tool systems of nickel-based or Mo materials are used for this purpose.

Diffusion Bonding
Diffusion bonding is usually implemented by applying high pressure, in conjunction with necessarily high temperature, to the materials to be welded. Utilizing a solid-state welding technique, diffusion bonding can be used to fuse titanium or aluminum sheet metal to form fan blades.
